IV Squadron wound up

Technically this could go in modern aviation and if it should please move it but bearing in mind the recent threads on the old GR3’s this seems fitting.

Squadron wound up as a result of goverment cuts.

Considering the long and rich history of IV squadron I really do hope that it rises again in the near future as a fully operational unit.

If my understanding is correct.
IV squadron at Cottesmore have stood down as an operational squadron and will reform at Wittering as the training squadron, replacing 20 squadron, in the very near future, if indeed it has not already happened.
20 squadron are expected to reform at some future date to opperate the additional Chinnook’s, if they ever arrive in RAF service ?

Blimey, that is sad, especially given this squadrons long and illustrious history, what the hell is happening to our armed forces at the moment.
Thanks for the heads up, just taking a break from ….ing around with my Harrier ‘pit!
