That’s interesting, I just read through the list and don’t see mention of the one which crashed near Newmarket Heath, and ended up right next to a house and completeley burnt out, but which did not burn down the house and in fact only appeared to cause minor superficial damage.
If memory serves me right, it was c1987 and I believe the two crew escaped in their pod which landed some distance away.Bomberboy
Very odd. It’s listed here:
http://www.ejection-history.org.uk/project/year_pages/1987.htm
February 28th, 1987, F-111F 70-2418. Crashed in flames at Newmarket Heath, Suffolk, UK. I guess some cross-referencing needs to be done by the webmaster.
Back to the original question, a Google advanced search for ‘Selkirk’ on that site only brings up one incident:
1st November 1978
RAF Jaguar GR1 XX759 of 226 OCU. Did not recover from vertical dive. Crashed near Selkirk. Ecuadorian Student killed
Date is pretty near, as is location…?

Thanks Simon for the info on the F111.I dont believe its any of the crashes you listed..The Kintyre crash went down near Skipness, crew ejected. And the Lauder crash I already have details of..I believe it was sometime in 1975 near Selkirk thats the only details i have so far…thanks again thoe..Dave
According to f-111.net, the only crew lost in an F-111 crash in 1975 were in F-111A 66-058 (66-0058?), on 7 October 1975 (doesn’t give a location though):
http://www.f-111.net/memorial.htm
And ejection-history.org.uk has another three in 1975, from which all crew ejected:

Perhaps it was a bit later than 1975? F-111F 70-0375 crashed near Lauder in 1987, if that’s any help?
From f-111.net:
Crashed and destroyed 28 July 1987 near Lauder UK. Both killed. WSO attempted ejection, but out of limits for survival. Killed were CAPT Thomas F. “Chip” Stem and CAPT Philip D. “Phil” Baldwin.

If that’s not it then there’s either F-111E 68-0081 that crashed in the Lake District in 1975, or F-111E 68-008 that crashed near Machnhanish in 1973. In both these crashes both crew members ejected successfully.
Cheers
