I was dragged totally against my will (!) to Elvington yesterday by my girlfriend, so thought I’d share some pics in a Pen-Pusher stylie! (Though mine are nowhere near as good) Hope you like.

Yes, I did do a weekend trip to Brussels a few years ago, primarily to see their NF30. They were in the process of cleaning it up. I spoke to the fellow responsible as I was interested in the fate of the AI Mk 10 which was fitted to it, but it was last in storage somewhere.
They were making a good job under cramped conditions

None to my knowledge, unfortunately. Such a shame that none of the Mossie NF36s was preserved.
The Brussels Air Museum NF30 is the same.

Did somebody once mention on here that the cost in electricity was prohibitive in the operation of the Victor sim or have I just made that up.

Victor Proc. Trainer
Is the Victor procedures trainer live?
Spoke to my mate who used to ‘do a bit’ at Elvington last night, he told me it was the intention to get it fully operational as apparently they have all the electronic gubbins for it. Whether or not it’s still the case he didn’t know…

Thanks benyboy for the excellent pic of WS788. Surprised to notice that, although the radar indicator box has been removed, they still appear to have retained the fitting above holding the ASI and altimeter, put up there to frighten us poor nav/rads.

The interior lighting was on- how live the trainer’s systems are I couldn’t tell you though, nobody around to ask unfortunately.

The rest. Apologies for the blur on the cockpit shot of the Victor Procedures Trainer, was nudged by a small herb as I took it!
Herald needs a wash at least- come on guys!
The ‘indoor’ Bucc and Lightning shots I chucked in to give you an idea of just how crammed the hangar is…
The ‘outdoors’ Bucc could do with some tlc too. And before you ask, the small herbs dancing around the nose of the pink Bucc are nowt to do with me!
I had to laugh, on seeing the nose art on the Bucc one of the little darlings said to his dad ” daddy, that woman’s got no clothes on. That’s disgusting…” We walked away sharpish trying not to laugh! 😀
And I had to put in a shot of the Air Gunner’s room- a fine tribute to AG’s I think, well done chaps.

No worries mate, seeing as I failed miserably to get a shot of it! Doesn’t look much different from your shot to now sadly 🙁
Got a couple more shots from the weekend to chuck on anyway.
Yep that’s my MG, the ‘real’ Blue_2 if you like. Get one before they all rot away 😀

Love your pic! Where and when?
Near Gt Yarmouth Oct 1954, soon after joining 152. Taken on a 6 x 6 Agfa Isolette folding camera on slow Agfa film. I took two shots, the other print I gave to the Elvington people when I visited several years ago.

Wyvernfan, I didn’t ask as the relevant people all looked rather busy sticking their heads into various orifices on the Tornado and mumbling unintelligible things about correct psi’s and stuff! Does look really well though, was difficult to get good shots of it, or anything in the hangar, due to how tightly packed the aircraft are currently.
Mr. Verney, apologies I didn’t take any of the Meteor NF, meant to on my way back to the car but was made back to the parking via the shop by she-who-must-be-obeyed 🙁
The NF can just be seen in the background of the Javelin shot, looked a bit sad and like she could really do with some tlc though. Think one of the intake rings had gone and the canopy seems to have gone very opaque. Joining an orderly queue with the Herald methinks…

How about the gentlemans aeroplane that I flew in sometimes

Good to see Gannet XL502 looking so well and with the front prop back on.
Do you know if they are any closer to getting her ground running, as was the hoped for intention when she was acquired?
By: Blue_2 - 9th March 2010 at 11:05
It is a replica/mock-up, call it what you will, but it’s very convincing looking and nicely-made
