Missing Logbooks

I am lucky enough to have enjoyed ownership of the fine DH87b Hornet Moth, pictured below, for something over a year. It’s a long shot, but encouraged by other forum members, I am now asking for help with finding some long-lost logbooks. They do turn up occasionally, so it’s worth a try.

I am researching her history and already have some good material, which is temporarily located here.

Unfortunately, much is missing, because all the engine and airframe logbooks were lost at some time before 1994, which is when new logbooks were started and hours deemed ‘acceptable’ and approved by the CAA. Given the aircraft’s chequered history, it’s perhaps not surprising.

I’ve contacted some former owners, and museums where she was displayed in the past (ex Strathallan Chief Engineer and Manager; Principal Curator of Transport – National Museums of Scotland) and am running out of ideas. So can anyone help with suggestions of where to look or whom to talk to? If anyone has had any association with the machine, I’d be very pleased to hear their story too (and copy their photos!). Best of all, if you have the logbooks, can I have them?:)
