The way airshow prices are going up i might as well just save the money and buy my own spitfire in a couple of years.

All i can say is they better pull out the stops and have some aircraft flying as last years was a bit of a damp squib compared to previous years.

You might get a half decent plastic kit if you save up for a couple of years :p

I thought last year’s Legends was one of the best shows of the year.

It’s a toss up this year so off to silverstone instead for 3 days hell lots more than those prices!

£31. adult price is not too bad it’s a cracking place if the weather is sunny and dry.

Have to agree with that… lots of new and exciting aeroplanes bought over from Europe, some of which i had never previously seen before.!

Just to put it in to perspective I went to see Blackpool (Sea, sea, seasiders) play Crystal Palace in a Championship match earlier in the year and it was £26 for 90 minutes “entertainment” (We lost 4-1……dodgy ref). Also went to see Arsenal play Liege and that was nearer £60, so £30 for the unique spectacle of Legends doesn’t seem too bad.

unbelivable price for the GB Grand prix……Legends, Friday, Saturday and Sunday is still cheaper than 1 day at Silverstone….and that includes petrol to the event and back!!!!

The standard admission prices for Legends aren’t expensive in this day and age but when I have attended displays at Duxford (admittedly a fair time ago now) I found that much of the display line was obscured by sponsors tents and tents for those who paid for hospitality and the difficulty in getting a good viewpoint marred my enjoyment of the day.
As I have now got a dodgy leg as well which restricts the distance I can walk and the time I can spend standing up my only option to guarantee a good view and a comfortable day would be a ticket with hospitality and unfortunately this puts the cost out of reach.
My understanding is that admission prices at Grand Prix are set by Mr Ecclestone and it never ceases to amaze me that people continue to such high prices for an event where the best the basic admission is likely to offer you is a a view of little more than a few hundred yards of the circuit.
Once you have found a viewing spot at the Grand Pix you need to stay there. If you try to walk round to view the cars at different places on the circuit the chances of getting any kind of view once the race has started are virtually nil.
If you want a attend a motorsport event with loads of atmosphere at a circuit where you can wander around and get good views with few problems then try Le Mans where you will get 24 Hours of Racing, very good value admission and you can wander around to plenty of vantage points for a good view. If you spend a few days there and take in scrutineering (in the centre of Le Mans) and practice you can probably still do the entire trip for a similar cost to a Grand Prix and if you need an aviation fix the airfield is literally across the road from the circuit.

For any event that im off to just for the one day all depends on the weather camping last year at duxford so went sunday a nice dry day.

It all depends at waddington 2008 the best day was when the vulcan flew but was only one day think that was a sat so just picked the best day there!

I was at that game too and there was nothing whatsoever dodgy about the ref… 😉 but I agree that a days entertainment at Dux is far better value than 90% of the sporting events that I attend for roughly the same cost…

Ticket Prices

Just had a quick look at some other event ticket prices, as follows,

British Super Bike, Raceday at Brands Hatch £29.00

FIA World Touring Car, as above £30.00

British Touring Car, Raceday at Brands Hatch £29.00

British Grand Prix, Raceday at Silverstone £115 (cheapest price)

Prices on the day ,from event websites

In my opinion, those prices don’t make ‘legends’ expensive. I’ve never missed one yet and I don’t plan too. It is completely unique as a show.

And Its nice to see that even with TFC restricted last year they still rounded up enough aircraft to make a show of usual high standards. Hopefully though TFC will be on full strength again this year.

Never missing an opportunity for a plug…..if you want a seat near the flightline, join Friends of The Fighter Collection and get free admission to the enclosure. You can even bring your own seat and food. We now offer an incredibly reasonable online membership.

I suppose it is not that expensive compared to the Grand Prix but i only live 30 minutes from Silverstone so i dont have to camp.

Does anyone know if TFC will have their fleet back this year or are the CAA still making them jump through hoops?

And why put five pence (0.5p) on the prices. Why not round up or down and make it a nice round number.

Who carries 5p’s around with them?

I shudder to think what they charge for the *privilege* of hosting that race. I know a few years back here in the US that the AMA fee for a Superbike race at your faclity was in the region of $150K.
Local track owner (Willow Springs) decided ******* that* held his own end of season race instead & put the $150K up at prize money….

(hijack over..)
