RAF Beaulieu

I was looking at the site of RAF Beaulieu on Google Earth and noticed at how clear the layout is of the station and was wondering if there is actually much to see when there?

RAF Beaulieu today

… ground level concrete concrete only and not much of that, most of what you see from the air is just scars. The small light coloured rectangle that is the threshold of the runway in the SE corner – nearest the road, is used as a model flying area. A domestic site to the NW is now a campsite. Come to think of it there may be the odd hut in that area.

Never been there but if you go south a little on GE you can see a partial imprint of the 2 grass runways of Needs Oar Point (ALG) just west of the Beaulieu river mouth.
One rwy south westerly heading, the other is just west of north

Have a look at my page about Beaulieu…also look at the East Boldre page(WW1 airfield on the opposite side of the B3054) – there are still some signs of both fields.
Walking the RAF Beaulieu area will reveal plenty of traces .

A hangar that stood at RAF Beaulieu is now in use as a Motor repairs garage at Ashley Cross roads near New Milton…N50.758282/W1.637810..clearly visible in Google Earth.

Needs Oar Point is not as visible as the Lymington (Pylewell House) field where a blister hangar remains and a grass strip is in use.
