It’s not sold yet… maybe we should reconsider how sad it is when once we know where it will end up… We still have a few Hurricanes knocking around in the UK anyway…
The American economy isnt wonderful at the moment either…

An aeroplane is only worth what somebody is prepared to pay for it….

I think 1.75GBP is a bit steep, especially when you consider there are several P-51s and a much more desirable P-47 available on the Courtesy Aircraft site which havent sold, all similar amounts but in US $.

It wasn’t that long ago that another Hurricane was passed in at auction. There were some zeroes floating around with some other figures in front for those that think such things are important.

It’s been at Duxford since 1989, time to move on.

The Hurricane is still rare considering you trip over Spitfires at Duxford.I hope she stays in the UK,if i win the lottery and then she would.:D
£1.75 m ,i guess if she is airworthy,ready to go and certificated then you are not looking at rebuilding or restoring fees,you can budget to a degree.

So what happens if they don’t replace the airframe? ,all the thread said was the Hurricane is for sale,not Hurricane being replaced by.
I know it is only my personal opinion but Duxford should have a flyable Hurricane,both are synonymous with each other.

I think you are getting confused with the whole BBMF saga regarding swapping LF363 for the remains of a Battle of Britain veteran Mk 1 Hurricane that is in India.;)

The Tigercat is back in it’s old hangar…I was working on it just this week.

In late 1944, Grumman at Bethpage, NY, began production of the Grumman F7F-3 Tigercat. In addition to the single seat fighter variant, two additional variants were called for by the Navy, the Grumman F7F-3P Tigercat (photo-recon) and the Grumman F7F-3N Tigercat (night-fighter). To expedite production all aircraft were completed as F7F-3s at Grumman Bethpage, NY. Subsequently, the Ps and Ns were accepted at Grumman and ferried to the Navy Lockheed Service Center in Van Nuys, CA, where they were completed for final delivery to operating units.
