It was nice that a mainstream programme features such a subject, but it was a bit of a curate’s egg of a snippet.
Most of the library footage used was of Spitfires (while the voiceover went on about how many more enemy aircraft were shot down by Hurricanes!). R4118 was described as the ‘only Battle of Britain Hurricane survivor’ (L1592, P2617…)
Still, better than nothing!

It had to be better than Merton in Europe – whilst covering Dresden – the quick flash of a US bomber photograph they used appeared to be Dauntless in USN finish.

Yes and I’m not knocking that aspect at all, just that a few more hours in the library could have resulted in a great piece on the Hurricane, rather than it being under the shadow of the Spit again.

Apart from looking around that fabulous Hurricane, the stock footage was awful and was nearly all Spitfire, they really did let themselves down with the research on this one, especailly as pointing out differences between the two types history and uses etc.
yes….but it was on the One Show! That means that joe public will see it, anything (even erroneous) that perpetuates the memory of the Few, the Hurri and the BoB to generations who know little/take so much for granted is to be applauded.
