Hi All,
Anyone able to add to the details ( serials ) and/or fate of the spitfires ?
from spitfire at war 3 alfred price.
Perhaps the largest single incident in which Spitfires were captured by German forces occurred the island of Kos off the Greek Coast in the Aegean Sea in October 1943. Several damaged and intact Spitfire Mk Vs of South African Sqns. no 7 and no 74 were taken; it is apparent from these photos that at least a few aircraft were in operational condition. It is not known if any of the aircraft were removed from the island or their ultimate fate.

Looks like they are on that improvised salt pan airfield which I investigated some years ago. A good surface but the salt would not have done the airframes a lot of good!
