Help with identification required…

Good evening,

We need help in identifying the guy in this photo (we seem to have everything expect his name!!)

http://i184.photobucket.com/albums/x74/dgregg/ID.jpg

According to the back, the photo was taken in Dec 1912 at his passing out parade after he had joined the RFC on 6th Oct 1912 aged 18 years & 1 month. He was posted to 1Sqn at Farnborough on 6th Dec 1912 & flew in HMA Gamma (as crew No.6) in 1913 & Delta (as crew No.3) on 6th April 1914. He also flew in Airships Beta, Eta, R100, R101 & R34.

He had regimental No. 489 (so one of the first 500!)

Any help appreciated

Thanks
Dave

I have found reference to a 2 A/M in the RFC with the Service Number of 489. However, I would need more from you to confirm whether it is the right man as this chappie went to France on 9/9/14 but could not have flown in the R101 or R34 as he was no longer in the RFC. Don’t really want to give his name unless he is the right man as there may be some controversy.

Thanks Kev,

Was his initials A.J.L. ? I have this name from another forum. On the back of the photo it shows the number of times he flew on Beta, Gamma, Delta, Eta. Then lists R100, R101, R34 & (R9?) but no details of flights made so maybe the owner/research added this line later?

Thanks so far for you help
