Indeed, some of his editorials through the late 1930s make uncomfortable reading now. Yes, there were others who held similar views but thankfully they were a very small minority and most ran for cover, or where pushed aside, when war broke out. While CGG handed over editorship he continued to write for Aeroplane and published books, but in a (slightly) moderated tone. It is interesting that his obituaries tended to speak of how kind and generous he was if you knew him in person, a worrying indication of how a winning personality can disguise less savoury convictions.
