Has anyone seen this show over here yet
Ice Pilots NWT is a 13-episode real-life docu-series about an unorthodox airline in the Canadian North. Yellowknife-based Buffalo Airways flies WWII-era propeller planes – big old aircraft built by “Rosie the Riveter” that have remained virtually unchanged over the years. Rookie pilots defy bone-chilling temperatures to fly cargo and passengers through blizzards, breakdowns and transatlantic journeys. It’s an impossible job in a merciless place.
Seen the first episode some good flying shots of C-46 [some very low] and DC-4

Hi Peter, unfortunately you need to be in Canada to view the series via the Canadian history channel, which is a real pain in the ass. I suspect the same guy who helpfully designed DVD regions is working for them now!
It’s a shame as its a great series and I was as hooked on it as I was a youngster on the beachcombers!
I was lucky as there was a US website who had all the episodes ready to stream, however they obviously got their bandwidth gobbled and no longer list them.
For the UK people here, there are ways around it by using a proxy. Look up “proxy server ice pilots”
If you use firefox, Install FoxyProxy. Then add this Proxy Server 132.213.9.222 You should then be able to watch it directly off of the website.

Bizarre doesn’t cover it.
At one time during an ad break in “A ‘plane is born” (another good series by the way) they ran the promo saying it was on “tonight at 9” followed by a list of programmes on “later tonight” which did not include it!
Right hands, left hands and lack of familiarity come to mind.
I do hope the series is as good as the promo or else we are going to be very disapointed. I love that guy’s vocal version of a big radial starting up.

I’m in Scotland and watched all the 13 episodes in January in about foru days on the net.
I don’t own a TV and shun all the usual reality crap anyway, however this is one series that will grip you and leave you wanting the next series to start asap!

despite the fact that they have been advertising for at least a week that it would be on tonight – and were even advertising it earlier tonight as being on tonight.
Bizarre – don’t they know their own schedules

It wasn’t on tonight!:(

Quest keep advertising on screen that this as starting tonight even though both the EPG on my PVR and their website say it starts next Thusday (22nd).
Setting it to record just in case.

Saw the last episode a couple of weeks ago. They do have a harsh old time out there in the cold, and some interesting ah……experiences!.
Apparently they are all set to film the second series if they haven’t started already.
Well worth a watch even if just for the flying eyecandy.

Just like ‘Ice Road Truckers’ only in the air!
Sounds like a must see (and listen!) with that line up.
I like Quest. Especially shows like American Hotrod, particularly when they do proper metal work, and the ‘Birth of a …’ series where the guy built a helicopter, a light aircraft, an AC Cobra replica and some other stuff.

Ice Pilots is coming to the UK on Quest TV starting on 22nd of April all 13 episodes.
From the what I have seen it is excellent with lots of good flying with Buffalo Airways fleet of C-46, C-47, DC4, Electra and CL215’s.
