Does anyone have any info on the Messenger parts held by the Aeroplane Collection please, my copy of W&R just gives a list of reg numbers but I wondered exactly what they had.
many thanks

Messenger parts
TAC have Messenger and Gemini parts, all of which appear to have been identified as to which machine they came off.
This is one for XE584. I’ll give him a nudge to reply.

Are these the parts that came from Peter Amos and the Miles Aircraft Collection?

Miles Messenger
Hi Ken,
Thanks ANON for the heads up, I don’t get on the forum as often as I should.
The bits/parts are the items collected from the Miles Collection back in 2002 from the Kingston Magna store. To date the Collection has worked on the tailplane assemblies for the Messenger HUI and the Gemini KHZ. Neither aircraft is any where near complete and componants from the airframes listed in W&R will be used in both aircraft. Due to storage difficulties and lack of manpower a full inventory of the gathered items has never been made. Our progress on the static rebuild has been very slow due to a varity of reasons mainly attributated to the problems at our base of Hooton Park where the aircraft parts are kept.
Hope that helps if you need specific info e mail me aeroplanecol@aol.com and I will do my best to answer.
Regards XE584.

Hi, about Miles Gemini G-ALCS
It was my Dad’s aeroplane for quite a few years. Do you have any parts, info or whatever. I think it crashed in Ireland after my Dad sold it.

Presumably you now have the remains of Messenger AJFF, i used to pass it frequently in the 70`s as a lad, it was parked beside a BP garage on the A41 between Elstree and Watford…..Martin

You could do a lot worse that direct your enquiry to Peter Amos. What he doesn’t know about Miles aircraft probably isn’t worth knowing!

The GINFO searchable database on http://www.caa.co.uk could be a handy starting point for this type of investigation.

If all else fails go to the Museum of Berkshire Aviation. They know everything about Miles a/c – and if they don’t then they’ll know who does!
