For anyone interested, the next in Rolls-Royce Heritage Trust’s (Coventry Branch) lecture programme is a talk on the AW Flying Wings.
“Armstrong Whitworth & the Flying Wings” by Peter Adams.
19.30 hrs on Monday 11th January, 2010
The Sphinx Club, Sphinx Drive, off Siddeley Avenue, Binley, Coventry.
I don’t think there is an entrance charge for non-members.
Roger Smith.
PS The Sphinx Club not easy to find – anyone wanting directions pm me

AW Flying wings
My father-in-law (now deceased) worked for AW in the drawing office on the AW52 Nene-powered flying wing at Baginton.
He was a dry, uninteresting character who, although professing to be an aviation enthusiast once remarked to me, when I proudly showed him my newly restored Phantom ejection seat and after looking it up and down said: “What do you want that for?”
