Thought it best to keep the previous thread going.

I’ve just updated the news section on the PPS Site, Yak C.11 G-BTZE has been carrying out her flight-test programme over the past few weeks, for more information and photos please have a look at:

Hello VoyTech,

All I have thus far is that it was applied by students of a Technical Institute at Monino for a parade in 1951 trying to replicate a GPW VVS fighter scheme so it could well have been flown over Red Square for a Communist holiday parade as you suggest. I hope to find out more about the aircraft in question in the near future.

“The chosen paint scheme for the aircraft is to be that of a VVS Yak-11 which was prepared for a postwar Communist Parade in Russia in the late-‘40’s by students at a technical school. This represents White ‘52’, the scheme of a WWII VVS Yak fighter.”

When you say “prepared for a Communist Parade” do you mean that a Yak in this scheme has actually flown over the Red Square on a Communist holiday parade (1st of May or 7th of November), or that it was merely intended to be towed behind a lorry in a small Siberian town to mark the start of a new school year (but eventually wasn’t when the lorry broke down)?

Yes I read that but am none the wiser, reads to me as though it is a representative fighter scheme that a Yak 11 was once painted in? I am sure it will look nice when it’s finished whatever scheme it’s wearing.

Will it be an authentic Yak 11 paint scheme or a fighter scheme from another type?

We would not want to dissapoint you! 😉 I quote:

Thanks for the info MarkV, much appreciated. In that case it’ll be even lovelier! As I said, no disrespect intended, I was just thinking it would look rather dashing in the red & white scheme.

Non taken 🙂

I don’t wish to ‘diss’ the owner’s choice of paint job, but it looks very similar to other Yak-11’s already flying.

It will not look the same as others, it will be much more historically accurate than most if not all others currently flying, matt paint, correct colour etc.

Thanks Tom, interesting history on this one. Shaping up very nicely! 🙂

Ah well, it’ll still be great to see her fly!

Ps. Any news on the Yak-9 restoration?
