New Cat At North Weald

The Catalina arrived from Lee on Solent today to stay for a few months to have some work done. Nice to have one around again.

In my message two posts above, the dreaded typo gremlin crept in and the date should in fact be 2001 and not 2002. Thanks to Aad van der Voet for picking me up on that.

Would be nice to see an RAF marked one on the display circuit here.

N423RS last flew on 10/11/2002 (see later message below) when it was delivered Duxford – Lee-on-the-Solent. The flight to North Weald from there also appears to have been her first post-restoration test flight.

It’s been a long time since I’ve seen RS fly!

And, as for North Weald, how long is it since the DC4 & C54 arrived for their parts in a film? Feels like a lifetime since I shot them!

It’ll be a pity if she does but there again there seems to be more enthusiasm in the US for the larger birds, that and a gentler hand on the tiller in the form of the FAA
