Obit in the Telegraph today. The man who founded the well-known holiday firm bearing his name, but he also wrote The 1000 Day Battle, a superb account of the missions of the 8th’s Second Air Division. As the sub-title explains, it has particular emphasis on the 448th BG and the other B-24 units based in the Waveney Valley. In the depth of its research and quality of writing and illustrations it is up in the Roger Freeman league. One can offer no higher praise than that. Still available second hand at reasonable prices.
