2 Mention In Despatches- W.O C.E Little 334441

Hello,
I am trying to find information regarding the career of Warrant Officer Cyril Edward Little MBE, 334441. Cyril served in the RAF pre-war, venturing to India (for 4 years!), Iraq (another 4 Years) and Malta. 1939 and the outbreak of war saw W.O Little travel to France to Number 2 Base Area as part of the Continental Contingent. Nothing more was heard from Cyril until he re-appeared in the UK on 17th June 1940, having escaped the continent via St. Nazaire. W.O Little was awarded two Mentions in Despatches, the first was published in the London Gazette on 24th September 1941, the second 8th June 1944. I can not find any information as to why these awards were given. Can anybody offer any help as to where I may find some answers? I am doing this on behalf of Cyrils son, his father never spoke of his experiences and any information would be most welcome indeed.
