Terry Waddington

It is my very sad duty to record the demise of a long-standing aviation author and photographer, Terry Waddington, who passed away yesterday in Roseburg, Oregon, USA at the age of 75.

Terry was best known for his airliner books on the DC-8, DC-9 and DC-10 but was also a prolific photographer encompassing all aviation. His history is as follows:

Born (1934)/raised in Bridlington and York.
1951-1963 apprentice & design engr. Blackburn Aircraft. Bev & Bucc.
1963 design engr. DeH Canada. CV-5 Buffalo
1964-1966 vendor liaison engr. DeHC DC-9 program
1966-1967 design engr. Lockheed (Southall). C-5
1967 design engr. CAP. Vancouver B.C. Canadair 215; Twin Otter floats
1968-1969 liaison engr . McDonnell Douglas (LGB) DC-8;DC-9; DC-10
1969-1984 various positions in international commercial sales, mainly Europe but also Canada/ Western USA as sales mgr. MDC (LGB)
1985-1991 V.P. Marketing, Irish Aerospace Ltd. a Shannon, Ireland based leasing company jointly owned by MDC and GPA to lease out MD-83s.
Retired in 1991 after a heart transplant in the UK and returned to CA, then to Oregon in 1994.

A great friend and true gentleman with a great sense of humour.
