If the RAF had a Heritage Flight…..

With the furore over the purported swap of the BBMF Hurricane, what significant aircraft do you feel should be FLOWN as aircraft important to the Nation?

I’d like to see a Typhoon (Mk I not the jet – yet!!) and Tempest, plus Mosquito, (and Hornet?) Whirlwind (twin engined, not rotor!) Wellington, Halifax and Stirling for WW2; then Sea Hawk, Gnat, Javelin, Canberra (a TSR2??)….. Lightning, Phantom, Harrier and Jaguar, Victor (oh, that can fly!!)…

Is it really too much to ask that a representative aircraft be maintained in flying condition once retired from “Active Service”? Except that we do seem to keep aircraft in the inventory for years past their intended replacement date, so they probably can’t be safely flown any more….

So what important aircraft have I missed? And should there be a Heritage Flight?
