Many moons ago I believe the Wartime Aircraft Recovery Group recovered the remains of No.595 Sqn Martinet HN.888. I believe this included the Type B MKIIb winch to go with their canopy sections. Can anyone confirm if this is on display or in store and if the Martinet canopies or recovered items are displayed?
Kind regards,
Tim

(this is my first time on the forum, hope it is ok)
Re,Martinet HN888,I was with Ken Haddleton on the Martinet dig,I am also a founder member of the WARG,I have some photos of winch and engine in situ, the winch was recovered at a later date by other members of WARG,but during a move to new premises, the winch went “missing”and turned up later at a military sale in shrewsbury, and has subsequently vanished,if you would like photos of the remains at the site I will be glad to supply them, the engine a Mercury XXX was in a ravine where it came to rest after it had rolled down the slope, the exhaust collector ring was still in situ though badly damaged, the prop I am told was kept in the local RAFA at knighton,

I have been asked by Don (BEIHAN62) to post these pics of remains of Martinet HN888 that were dug in the mid 70’s.
