Yes had a brief chat the other day about Gibson’s bond drive tour of Canada. I have a couple of pictures of him here in Oshawa, but not really much has been made of his visit over here, like his travel agenda and what cities did he visit? thanks Darrell

Susan Ottaway, has recently published a revised edition of her excellent biography entitled ‘Guy Gibson VC – The Glorious Dambuster’, incorporating much new information and many more photographs.

I recently bought a copy and it’s a nicely-produced update of the original. The whole of Chapter 9 ( ‘The Best Ambassador’ ) is devoted to Gibson’s tour of Canada.

W/C G. N. Irwin also hosted many famous people while on Bond tour drives, he also looked after “Buzz” Beurling as well.
