Capt Winkle Brown – Did he fly the Me163B with rocket Power?

I watched a Nat Geo prog, this morning (recorded btw & made in 2005) about the efforts the Allies made to recover technology from the 3rd Reich. Within this was an interview with Capt Winkle Brown where it was strongly inferred that he flew a rocket powered flight in an Me 163B whilst in Germany. At one point he refers to the exhilaration of a flight in the 163 and mentions that opening throttle was similar to unleashing a small atomic bomb. Note at no point does he actually say he flew it under power as its an edited sequence of comments.

However in his books;-

Captive Luft
Wings on my Sleeve (I only have the original first edition)

he very clearly states that;-

He first flew the Me163B, in the UK, only flew it in the Uk and never with rocket power (ie he flew it as a glider)
and
Whilst in Germany he only flew the Me 163A but again without rocket power

Note- the 163A had a significantly less powerful cold (non combustion) rocket

Is Nat Geo editing taking a big liberty in rewriting history?
Or
Was the great Winkle Brown under orders not to fly using rocket power,…. but could not resist the temptation, and has taken 50 years to formally admit to doing it?

Can anyone help clear this up?
