RAAF V RAF blue

Any ideas why the Australians had their own dark blue uniforms in WW2? If they were serving in the UK based Squadrons would they wear the normal RAF blue uniforms with ‘Australia’ shoulder tabs or their own dark blue suits? It has always puzzled me why the Aussie’s had to be different. Not aircraft related i know but still historic aviation…….
