Another veteran passes

Henry Payne trained as a pilot on Hampdens in Canada, and on returning to the UK flew Stirlings. He towed gliders at Arnhem, and later flew operations to drop secret agents into those parts of France which were still occupied.

His Stirling was attacked by an Me.410 during Operation Gisela in March ’45, but he managed to shake it off.

A typically modest chap, Henry bravely fought a long illness, but finally succumbed on 17th August.

RIP old friend.
