dark light

Solent Sky Museum

I had some spare time while I ‘m working in the Southampton area so I thought I’d give it a look.
I thought it was very interesting as it primarily records the aviation history of the Southampton/Hampshire/Isle of Wight area.
But more importantly there are some great pieces here that are quite rare.
For a start the Saunders Roe SRA1 jet fighter previously at Duxford, then there is the Mk24 Spitfire PK683 in great but almost original timewarp condition. A Short Sandringham flying boat which you can view from inside as well as outside, and which is a treasure for its age.
There are many other great items including a Napier lion,a beautiful Napier Sabre(what a beast of an engine!!) and several others .Only real complaint was that it seemed a little dark in the hall, but really worth the £6.00 admission in my opinion .I ‘m going again next week with my camera !!
