Mk 1a Spitfire, AR213/E-JZ has taken up residence in 3 Hangar at Duxford and looks a bit conspicuous parked next to the HAC Spitfire/Hurricane.

My favourite Spit, a thing of rare beauty and originality.
Mine, too, as she was the first “live” Spit I ever managed to get close to…

Quite so, Jeepman!
I’ll be out there checking. 🙂
Spitfire man, I don’t think they will be ready in time….but send me a PM.

The only thing missing on these early Mk Spitfire restorations is the warning plate on the stbd engine cowling which reads:
HAND TURNING GEAR
FOR MAINTENANCE ONLY
IF USED FOR EMERGENCY STARTING
AIRCRAFTSMAN MUST HAVE ROPE FROM
HIS WAIST TO THE UNDERCARRIAGE
TO PREVENT HIM FALLING INTO THE
AIRSCREWOnly a small detail, but easily replicated and SO very visible on all the early Mks.
we’ve had the colour police, the roundel police and now we have the……….
warning plate police :diablo:

In a related line i talked with the guys working on SALLY B and they say the new engine will be on and working by Tuesday so hopefully things are looking up for her as they have had so much bad luck of late.

Great photos Brian, very atmospheric. A beautiful aircraft indeed 🙂
Andy, what a great addition the plate would make to the aircraft. Brass?

What a beaut.
When did she arrive?
Yesterday I believe and is to be based at Duxford for a while.
