Hello Chaps,
Hope you can help me, I found these pictures of S/L Hood’s Spitfire, which scheme is this? Do you know if this Spitfire is P9428 EB-R. The Squirrel Art is great.
The scheme that I added looks like but the tail wing looks black in the photograph.
Thanks in advance.
Best Regards.

Sqn Ldr Hood is often shown as having collided with Flt Webster’s Spitfire, also of 41 Squadron. In fact, this is not correct. Hood was shot down and killed, whilst it was Webster who was involved in a mid-air collision although this was actually a Hurricane of 73 Squadron flown by Flt Lt Lovett who baled out safely. The detail is confirmed in the Operational Record Book of 73 Squadron although, unfortunately, publications have repeated the error on a pretty frequent basis down the years.
Just so that you might amend your records! After all, the “Pope” needs to maintain his infalibility!
