Just purchased a P-38 RC plane. Not painted.
Would be tempting to color it up as Glacier Girl tough, just wondering if any of you marking experts got any better ideas! 😀
Might be some markings, airplane histories, pilot histories or anything else which could make up a nice scheme for it.

I will eventually pick one which isn’t very hard to do.
I am not one of those who spends a million hours on painting and building and then risking the planes life in the air. The more time and money spent, the more shaky the fingers get! 😀

There doesn’t seem to be a lot out there on famous P-38s in the ETO. In fact, I’d be hard pressed to name a P-38 pilot or unit in the ETO.
If you want something different, how about a P-38 in the Pacific theater?
The obvious choice would be Dick Bong, but I’m sure there are others.

Good idea WJ244!

Assuming it is the correct mark and you want to be really different why not paint it as Lefty Gardeners White Lightning or any of the other pylon racers. Sorry if this offends the sensibilities of those who believe we should only see military marks on warbirds but I am a great fan of the pylon racers.

Yep, already had the thought and did some Googling, but couldn’t locate any good pictures.

If you want something different, paint her up as an RAAF one.

Actually, I didn’t check until now.
So it’s either a J or an L model.

Does it have the small chin intakes or the large ones.
If the small, then it is anything up to and including an H model, and Glacier Girl was a F.
If the large, it is a J or L model, and you need to find one of those to depict.
