Air ministry switch identity?

Sorry – it looks a bit similar.

I found a flare pistol lying on the surface on a mountain one – minus it’s grip! I assumed the grip was wooden and had rotted away.

Have found one of those switches or at least parts of one before – just can’t recall where? possibly Firefly? or Defiant? Seem to recall it was rotary operated & I thought it might be a dimmer switch of some kind?

Item on the left is as Peter says, the stock plate or grip plate from a flare pistol & common to many aircraft – strange how often these turn up, but I have yet to find a flare pistol on a dig!

Elliot the grip parts are from a webley ww2 flare gun that was carried on board the aircraft.

Peter – the other broken parts are the remains of a pistol type grip from a US aircraft – Mustang, P-47 etc. You probably know that already but just thought i’d point it out.

I can’t identify the switch from the pics, but AM Sec 8B is for “Aircraft gun sights and ancillary equipment”

Just above the AM and Crown is the partial Sec/Ref 8B/12
