Sure, it had to be done, just to hear the sound.
The crankcase isn`t suitable for a flight restoration due to the welding required on it. I have spoken with two companies who may be involved with airworthy rebuilds in due course and we agreed to share parts and, more importantly, working knowlege of the engines.
One component I am looking for is the supercharger casing, which is damaged and magnesium, not a good combination. We have welded mag before, but it is a risky job.
Jim Pearce has a Jumo 211 which was rebuilt and run in Germany, I would guess someone must have got a video of it but I don`t know who did the rebuild. The clips of the 213 in America are great. I have a hand-only starter here but I`m not convinced about using it after watching that!

Hi Matt
Well, I have initially stripped the good engine, which is the one I will be using.
The condition is superb as you can see. The magnesium is also in very good condition, having come from Russia, I don`t doubt the condition of the wreckage in those photos, the low temparatures preserve everything really well.
The down side here is that I am simply too busy for the next 12 months to attempt to get on with the Jumo, so into storage she goes, but once I get back onto it next year it will move quite quickly, I do need some parts, but these are external and will not hold it up to begin with.
I really want to hear what she sounds like!Pete
Wow, you’re workin @ getting a Jumo running? will this be put onto a restored aircraft. Have read your post but…… can’t wait to see it running 😎

Excellent Stuff, I saw an engine you had helped with run for the first time last month, indoors I might add, It was quite an experience! It will be fantastic to see the 211 going, you can get an idea of what it may sound like from this super rare footage of the 213 running,

Please keep us updated of any progress and what parts do you require (I will keep my eye open)

Incorrect engine aside ( Good spot Pete, perhaps that engine is not with the crash and just an incorrectly inserted photo) I think it looks pretty good!
Edit btw how is your 211 coming along?

The photos look doctored. Especially the one with the engine and the wool blanket. And the shadow lines are strange.
But given the condition of the Fw189 and Fw190 found there, perhaps more wrecks will be found one day.

How many Ju88s were built with Hispano-Suiza engines ( or perhaps the Russian Klimov version)?
I don`t think so!
