lol, yup, but not from Stennis it ain’t. Stennis is in Waveland, way to the South West, which is as far south in Mississippi as you can go. Hancock County, almost into South west Texas boyy:D

indeed, Nasa/Stennis airport in fact, not that Katrina didn’t try her best to relocate 422 further North to Alabama!:p

Emphasis added.

A brief geographical note…
Alabama is due East of Mississippi….:D

That option has been looked at, but the terms are never very agreeable for test bed work, especially when it comes to control of the airframe. apart from that, first you have to have an actual flying airframe before you can go cap in hand to NTPS and the like.

Hey thanks for the update, it seems there website hasn’t been updated in awhile, and I have found out that it’s not in Alabama, but in Mississippi. As I have stated in the past on the Vulcan, could she be used by a aerospace company for trials, possibly to help pay for the restoration?

hmmmm, not sure who you spoke to on the stand, but as one of the spanner wielders on 422, I can tell you 6-8 months to first flight is off of the mark. Even with a big cash injection, you are talking 2 years. 12 months could see static engine runs yes, but not flight. There is still plenty to do!

Dog House,

I had a nice long chat with their rep at Waddington and it is exactly as Chox says, they are indeed running systems up one by one to check them out but the next step requires a moderatly large cash injection.

He did mention that should the cash be readily available then first flight could be feasable within 6-8 months, this of course is dependant on how much cash and if there are no big snags to deal with, something which Lightnings are famed for!!!!.

Personally, I feel that she stands a very good chance of flight, the progress so far has been excellent and the standard/quality of work is inspiring, if you make it to the QRA Open Day at Bruntingthorpe this weekend (26th) then you will be able to have a chat with the AALO guys there.

Seems that progress is still steady but they’ve decided to re-direct their efforts into trying to find some major sponsorship now. They say that the restoration has reached a stage where attention needs to turn to the financial side of things rather than the engineering.
