CFB Trenton – Canada Day Weekend – Vintage Iron

The airshow program stated: The Canadian Forces air display weekend, celebrating the 100th Anniversary of powered flight in Canada, the 85th Anniversary of the Canadian Air Force, the 60th Anniversary of the Commonwealth Air Training Plan Memorial Gates, and the 25th Anniversary of the National Air Force Museum.

Wow. That was a mouthful, but the display was indeed incredible.

Here are some images of historic aircraft on display. Kindly respect my copyright – do not reproduce without written permission.

More Yellow – But Don’t Forget The SAR Guys

More yellow – including the SAR guys who, on Sunday, had to go out on a real SAR mission searching for a man/woman overboard out in the Lake.

and don’t forget the light-weights – the yellow peril…. (a few static shots from Saturday). Trenton and the yellow birds go wayyyy back – its was amazing to see so much yellow on the static display (5 Harvards, 1 Yale, 1 Cornell or 2?, 2 Chipmunks, 2 Tiger Moths, and 2 Finch)

VWoC

Hi folks: I was there on Sat when the gates opened.
VWoC props must have been Sun. 😀

Yes, the heavy metal propjobs were Sunday. The flyby was not part of the show but was performed when they (Spit, Mustang & Corsair) took off and headed for home after the show, followed by the Snowbirds, at around 1715. Only the folks who hung around got to see them.

It’s not too often that a Spitfire and P-51 are in the air together, never mind being led by an F4U !! Nice sight to see.

The men & women of 8 Wing put on a great show! I’m still sorting through my pictures.

It was also my first time seeing Hawk One fly & hopefully not my last.

What are the plans for Hawk One when the ’09 airshow season is over?

Good to see the Spit back in the air, no sign of the Hurricane or Kittyhawk though?
The Hurricane and Spit were delayed because of prop rebuilds and the Kittyhawk was awaiting exhaust repairs.
Tim Leslie who usually flies the VWoC Mustang and Paul Kissman who flies the Corsair are also pilots for the Hawk 1 Sabre.
British Canuck love that last shot of Hawk 1 she’s a lovely aircraft in that gold paint.

More CFB Trenton – The Heavy Iron

How could we forget the Lancaster?
Then there’s the little guy, the CC-117… and our Maple Leaf flag.
