Went to an Open Gardens event at Helperby yesterday and was very pleased to find an excavated engine from NR203 on display. This crashed at nearby Myton-on-Swale, North Yorks. 21 Nov. 1944 on a flight out from Leeming where it was based with 429 “Bison” Squadron. I think there was one casualty only.I believe other bits of this aircraft were used in the restoration of Elvington’s Halifax. There was also an impressive display of military vehicles at Helperby and a nearby farm.
