Twin Pin overhead panels
These were missing when I rescued the cockpit from the scrappy at Sandbach. Aviation parts dealer Neville Martin had helped these guys with business contacts and he took the overheads, sticks, one seat and the main panel out I think just before the airframe left Shobdon.
I managed to obtain all these items back from him except for the overheads which, I was told, were robbed for their switches (he was an aviation parts dealer at the time) and probably discarded.
Why don’t you go and see the AA Twin Pin at Coventry and get a look at their overheads? You could also get a shed-load of cockpit reference photo’s while you are at it too.
Anon.

Having restored many vintage RAF instrument panels in the past, one excellent source is the RAF research dept at Hendon museum. Step one is to log onto their web site, click on the research dept tab, write and detail that you are looking for the Piliots instrumentation layout especially the overhead and side panels for what ever aircraft and model variant (in your case the Twin Pin), enclose your details and address in the e-mail. Wait a number of weeks and you should find the photocopies of the pilots notes showing the cockpit detail through your door. An invoice will normally be attached with the notes for a small photocopying charge, usually a couple of pounds. Time and time again these people have come up trumps for me in the past with regards to cockpit layouts. This is providing the Twin Pin served with the RAF (To which I think it did?) Good Luck!

SUNDAY JULY 19th 2009
11am – 5pm
Crowne Plaze Hotel, Speke Aerodrome, Liverpool.
Each year since 2005 we have hosted an aviation-themed fair at the old Speke airport site. The purpose of the fair has been to raise money to keep the Jetstream Club going for another year, to raise awareness of what we do, to inspire our younger visitors to get involved – and to raise funds for other local charities.
This years principal beneficiary will be the North West Air Ambulance. This amazing team has been operational since 1999 and their annual costs are a staggering £3,500,000 – all of which is raised through public donations.
If all goes well, at this years fair you can – amongst other things – expect to see:
Our three aircraft: the Jetstream, the Grumman AA1 and the Percival Prince.
The Merseyside Police EC135 Helicopter.
A Jetranger helicopter providing short pleasure flights.
A Bell-47 helicopter – as immortalised by the famous MASH tv series.
Possibly a vietnam-era Loach helicopter. (keep all your fingers crossed!)
A gaggle of dragsters.
Hot-Rods
American & Classic Cars.
Sea Cadet Band – very popular at last years event.
The Liverpool Land Rover Society.
The guys from 4 para – come and meet a war hero, and see what it takes to handle a parachute.
Some very nice Vintage Fire Tenders.
Fun Fair.
and more !

Why dont you bring it along to our Aviation Fair on the 19th at Speke? Give folks a chance to see it and drum up some interest. Getting word round is often half the battle. If nothing else though, a few of us will have our pits there so can compare notes 🙂

Cheers fly buy, i have downloaded most pit photos off the net including the above.BUT 😮 they all seem to show the main instrument panel, which i am familiar with. Its the upper panels above the seats that i am struggling with,as throttle box, yokes, main instrument panels are 98% complete and just need some TLC.But the upper panels have some “worrying” gaps ;).
Thanks for the help though.
