Tempest parts to identify

Out for a field walk at the weekend, abit last minute due to the availability of the field due to crops but with some good results. 🙂

First three pics are of a hefty bit of kit with plate reading
“Air Ministry 5c/1614”

Next two seems to possible a cockpit instrument but with a serated edge?

Picture 6 & 7 are of a bakerlite piece with a metal pipe leading into it.

any help to identify would be appreciated. 🙂

Middle row pictures definitely an altimeter part;- in fact a capsule and rocker arm chasis from a KH mk14 (Kollsman pattern).

Beware of possible radium contamination on this item.

Another smaller part, its got a number which someone may be able to identify.

The second pic shows its shape and it seems to be painted a light grey and made out of stainless.

cheers for looking

Just some coils of wire Neil – nothing toxic that i’m aware of, but probably best left alone if there is any doubt :p

The suppresor cuts down electrical interence – they are usually mounted in the engine nacelle/firewall area. Hope that helps.

I think the other pictures show part of the gyro compass situated on the blind flying panel.

Not entirely sure about that mind!

A productive day then… Sorry I couldn’t get up there! Busy dismantling Jet Provosts, but by the looks of things, your Tempest is in better condition……..
