Hi!
A few weeks ago a friend of mine helped trace the location of a He111 crash site here in Norway.
They only found small pieces of it left on site, but visited the neighbouring farm to ask if they had any parts tucked away in the barn…
They acctually had a few pieces that was clearly of He111 origin, but the farmer also presented the part shown in the picture below.
He belived it came from the He111 crash site, but we can not get it “to fit” anywhere on a He111.
Anyone have a clue as to what this is?
It looks like some kind of exhaust system, but the ports are arranged at such angles that it is hard to understand what type of engine it could be fitted to.
Any clues?

Yes, I’m going to stick my neck out and say that it is part of the anti-icing system that channelled air, heated by the exhaust of the DB601/Jumo211 engines, along the leading edge of the wings…
…but I still can’t figure out which way round it would be fitted.

Very good. 😀
The joints between the different bits of it don’t look like they are designed to keep coolant in…..they look more like flexible expansion joints in an exhaust system to me…
…I just can’t imagine where they would fit the exhaust system of a Jumo 211 engine…..possibly cabin heating or anti-icing systems?

Hi there,
Is it made from brass? Could it be part of the cooling system.
Just a hunch.
Thanks for posting.
Cheers
