Armament: 4 x 20mm Hispano Mk. I, Type 404 Cannon, 4 Magazine Drums 60 Rounds each, 600 rounds per minute… I’ve got a reference of 10 seconds of firing, from Air International March 1995, written by Dr Alfred Price no less…
I’ve had a quick look through the A&AEE test reports, but can’t find any reference as to time for firing for the Mk.I, to confirm that rate of fire…
To me that sounds very fast, is there any footage of the first Spitfire’s to have the Hispano’s installed and am I correct in thinking Supermarine used a magazine feed for them?
It would be nice to hear what 600 rpm sounds like.
Are there any Cannon experts out there that can confirm the Whirlies short rate of fire…
Stuart…
Ah right found this on YouTube of a Hurricane, what was the rate of fire for that baby?
