It was a really nice day so we thought we would go to the open event at the Bentwaters Cold War Museum on June 14th. There were a lot less trade stands this time. There was a very good barbecue run by some local air cadets though, the smartest looking beer tent I’ve ever seen and the poshest portaloo in Suffolk, if not the world!
Bentwaters is a former American air base, so planes were the main attraction. But the main attraction was a flying display, which went on for about an hour-and-a-half. So, that was another good day and another very pleasant ride.
Thanks.

There are two events at Bentwaters this year.

On June 13th there is an airshow being organised by Bentwaters Parks which is lining-up to be a good one 🙂 (note that the museum will be closed on this day and no guided airfield tours will be running)

The Bentwaters Cold War Museum are having their own Open Day on
August 1st,while there will be no flying there will be other attractions on the ground and guided airfield tours by coach will be running.
There will be a rare appearance by the museums ex Spanish Air Force Piper Navajo E18.2/42-71 which will be displayed near the restoration hanger on the airfield.

Bentwaters Open Day 2009 Sunday 14th June

It would be nice if James May from ToP Gear was to turn up for the Open day ,i know they use the Benwaters Runway for some of their Car Tests on the ToP Gear show ,looks like a very good day out and easy to get to just off the main A12 Motorway

Are they accepting fly-in visitors and if so do you have a contact number? Thanks.

Unfortunately, we are not accepting fly-ins for this event. We do, however, hold two fly-ins per year. If you email info@bcwm.org.uk you can find out when the next one is.
Regards.
