I saw this Constellation while at Hamburg Airport in 1978. From its position it looked like a permanent fixture. I think I read something years ago about it being moved, and I’ve often wondered what happened to it.
Does anybody where it is now and what sort of state it’s in?
I apologise for the quality of the photo – it was taken through the window of a Tristar with a rather primative camera. I’ve enlarged it as much as I dare. By way of compensation I’m also attaching a somewhat better Connie photo.

I think you are talking here about the L1649 Starliners which were bought from Mr. Maurice Roundy?

As far as I know Lufthansa have acquired two further Constellations which will be used as spares to get the third they have back into the air again. This work is being carried out in the USA.

I don’t go up to the airport much, but I have a feeling that the tower was demolished within the last ten years.:(

Can’t help you, but I love that Luton pic, is that tower still there?
