More shameful buying from ebay. Unlike the grip in the pilot’s notes this has an extra guarded button. Part no. AC61056. It would be nice to know for sure, any help much appreciated. Accidentally found a crashed (abandoned) one in Dorset whilst looking for a Me110 with my aunt back in the 80s. The moment turbine blades and obvious bits of jet appeared I was dragged complaining from the field and instructed not to speak of it again. Had a soft spot for Scimitars ever since.

There was another one on ebay in the States a couple of years ago. I didn’t like spending money and I think it went for forty quid! The wiring has been neatly but terminally cut from the end of mine. It seems to go right up to the buttons with no plug connector.

I have the control grip from Scimitar XD218, scrapped at Fleetlands in the late 1960s. It is complete with the whole of the wiring loom (taken out properly by a late electrician friend of mine). Very rare items.

The DH110 came from a scrap yard dealer….so ex stores one would think…it has a repair stamp so likely flew on one of the protos is rare.
Pity you wont be at the Fest Ian

Interesting stuff Tony, it is quite a handful. The same trigger mechanism was used on Strikemasters as well. Would love to your Spit at Cockpitfest but going to a party instead. soon though!

nice grip….i have one with a shrapnel hole through it (last scimitar sat on a range)….i love that family of grips….the guy they used to hand model must have been like the missing link…huge hands! hence, alot of Dunlop grips are awkward for most people! The basic shape of the Scimitar grip ended up (with modifications) on the following aircraft:-
Scimitar
SR53
DH110
Sea Vixen
Bucc S1
Javelin
plus others my brain cannot remember (too much rivetting today! so far 400 popped in! solids….another 38 to go!)
the only grip in the family to have a brake lever was the DH110…..i have the only known grip…not from Derry’s aircraft i must add…..boy do i go on?! sorry old age….wheres me rivet gun!

Thanks Mr Ministry. I’ll knock up a base for it and label accordingly.
