Battle of Britain film pics (Buchon thread offshoot)

Having looked at a photostream on Flickr that was posted in the recent Buchon thread, I noticed something very odd about the aircraft in this picture:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/sushidel/45628913/sizes/l/in/set-1182766/

What appears to be a late-model Spitfire (IX or XVI), possibly in the markings of “Squadron Leader Skipper”, but with the older-style 2-into-1 exhaust stubs.

My first thought was replica, but I don’t think it is.

Anyone else….?

Hope all goes well with the moves. Huirricanes always seem to be a lot bigger than a Spitfire. You must have a very lenient local council. Ours dont even like caravans or trailers outside peoples houses.

Well, back safe, did it through the night, parked outside my place now till Tuesday…took photos. Towed better than expected! Wings and tail etc in another of my trailers. The tail gate has been lowered just now to fit rudder and the spinner fitted for photos.

Local council are very good about my ‘hobby’ and I have no neighbours (well – Newquay Airport)

I’m off to get some sleep!

How weird is that.
Whilst reading this thread, received a phone call to trailer a Hurricane from Liverpool down to Cornwall tomorrow. Its the last replica from the BoB film (apparently) I guess I will drive up tomorrow and come back with Hurricane on Saturday……………give us a wave!!

Sadly no, it’s being refurbed by Gateguards. However, I have a second Spitfire MkI being built by the same firm, ready in 3 weeks (much more trailer friendly) to be painted in BEF B&W underside.

Is this one which was for sale in Flypast. Looked like a good price to me.
If it is, the advert said it had already been refurbished.
Any pics ?

Ben

Got no idea, just supplying transporters and trailers etc. Will take camera and find out story tomorrow. will post saturday. Apparently the guys couldn’t fit it all on a 40ft curtainsider today.

Ah yes, didn’t spot the cannon fairings first time around!

Something odd with port wingtip, it’s not sitting correctly, was this originally a clip wing and this was monstered on?

Finally, another Spitfire image that, although flipped, appears to show P7350?

Another one, but I don’t think the same aircraft.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/sushidel/339514713/sizes/l/in/set-1182766/

Looking at this pic, it has an early-style windscreen and elevator horn balance. Again, however, four-blade prop and siamesed exhaust stubs. There are also what looks like cannon fairings on the upper and lower surfaces of the wings.

Spitfire V?

It is BL614.

As my Grandad worked on the film. there were repro’s made for blowing up.
it looks like a mk VB… as hurricanes some flew but you dont see many fights with so many hurricanes in the film. at end in back ground you’ll see me 109’s as pretending to be hurricanes.
the big fight 15.9
