Calling all 1980s Vulcan crewmembers….

Hi,

I am a collector of aircrew items in particular RAF watches, I frequent this (great) forum as well as the Military Watch Resource forum (MWR).

For many years there’s been a discussion amongst military watch collectors about a yellow faced Seiko watch (pictured). It has been said that it was issued to Vulcan aircrew beginning in 1983.

The watch has no MOD or NATO markings on the rear as do the two other (black faced) Seiko RAF issue watch types, it is said that the watch was a ‘local purchase’ of some kind.

This V-Force Reunion event might be of help, albeit is still over 11 months away [April 24 & 25, 2010]. Perhaps the organiser at Newark might be able to give you some pointers.

Hi Flightpath, I’m not ex-vulcan aircrew but I do remember seeing some mention of the yellow faced Seiko wristwatch over on PPRuNe.
