Early Post war Crash Westbury Wilts

Does anyone know about an early post war Crash in Westbury Wiltshire.

The aircraft is said to have crashed near or around the Mine Holes area of Westbury. The brother of my ex neighbour, who is now deceased, said he had some pics of the crash site and would drop them in for me to look at, but he has not returned to show me the pics since his brother died.

Any news would be great.

Have you tried the ASN Database?

A quick search for “Wiltshire” found several losses…

I had a look through Broken Wings (RAF Postwar losses) last night and didn’t spot anything that looked to be in the right area of Wiltshire. I doesn’t mean it wasn’t there though.

It was military and it was a recognisable aircraft type or could be identifed.

Sadly do not have contact with the person who had the pics.

Civil/military? Certainly needs someone with local memories to recall this. A photo of wreckage will be of little use unless it is titled or any parts are recognizable.
