74 Sqn ORB Jan-July 31st 1940

Does anyone out there have access to either an electronic or hardcopy version of the 74 Squadron ORB for 1940 up to and including 31st July?

I’m trying to assist another forum member in tracking down the operational history of a squadron pilot during this period, and not having a great deal of luck so far to be honest!

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Regards,

Ian

Regarding the apparent absence of the wartime 74 Sqn ORB from the National Archives.

From personal experience I’ve found that it pays to cross-check the on-line catalogue with the paper version. In my own research I’ve found one or two cases where an ORB exists, is catalogued on paper, but can’t be found in the on-line catalogue. Of course this does require a visit to Kew.

I would of thought the PRO at Kew has it but a cursory glance and their archives seems to indicate they only have the post war ORB available. There are some other wartime documents available.

If you can’t make it down to Kew you can always use their Digital Express service and have specific documents emailed to you – for a fee of course.
