I understand the local paper is saying that there are plans / permission has been given for a museum at Biggin.
Can anybody flesh this out?

heritage
a likely candidate for museum – possibly no-go on a early mark so onwards from a Mk.IX ? or even Mk.XVI TB382 if still in one piece (ish)
unless you go ‘plastic’ or build yourself a replica / copy !

According to the News Shopper (local rag) – the heritage centre will cost £3 Million (1/3 of which has already been secured) and will cover the whole history of the airport up to the present day.
Regards,
Dan

I thought that too when it was mentioned, but that’s what the bloke I spoke to said. He was probably mistaken about it, but it was along the lines of getting ‘our spit back that used to be on the gate’.
Any nominations for a more likely candidate?

It’s the long awaited ‘Heritage Centre’ – it will be situated on the other side of the road from the airfield where the big gap is next to the new houses that replaced the old married quarters.
The people involved reckon they may be in line for a Spit possibly SL674 again, but nothing definite yet.
I look forward to it as I’d like to end up working there as an old bloke 30 years from now – the perfect retirement job!
I’ll post more info if I can did any up.
I think you will find it will not be SL674.

I’ll have to keep an eye out for job opportunites.
Does anyone know how big it will be?

IIRC, SL674 is in a hell of a state, having lost its wings and tail over the years, as well as much of its internals!
