Walton on the Naze Halifax

Hi all,

Any idea what happend to this aircrafts remains? AFAIK this wreck was recovered by an ATC unit in the seventies and a set of propellerblades was made into a monument.

A picture shows a rocket on a launching ramp;anyone any idea what they were used for ie anti shipping,guided,or perhaps V1s “return-to-sender ?

It was RG475

Most of what was recovered was corroded due to it being hacked up and buried in shallow pits. The 1953 flood also affected the area, the majority of what was recovered was eventually scrapped!

but the wreckage sounds quite substantial with a world with not enough Halifax’s in!

The hurricane dispaly is a great piece.

Nope, but I was re-re-reading the book One Hurricane One Raid about the recovery of the Hurricane wreck on display at the BOB Museum Hendon.

The Halifax (I forgot the serial but was in the RG-range) was mentioned as having been recovered by an ATC unit and the wreckage was substantial with all four Hercules engines, undercarriage, props and a lot of wreckage on site before recovery.
