BNP and a Polish Spitfire

A leaflet for the BNP came through my letterbox this morning, courtesy of Royal Mail. Quite appropriately there was a Swine Flu leaflet as well. The BNP have scored a spectacular own goal because the leaflet is headed “The New Battle of Britain” and illustrated by a Spitfire with a prominent Polish red and white marking! The RF code is of course 303 Sqdn. This is apart from the fact that the mark of Spit is a lot later than the BoB.

Personally, I feel that the Poles have brought with them manners and a work ethic badly needed in this country. In any case, we owe them a lot from the 1940s.

Hi
British National Pole ? 😀

Jerry

Neither. I am not sure Zumbach ever had Polish nationality. He was born in Warsaw in 1915 when Poland did not exist as an independent state and his father was Swiss. In 1936 he joined the military concealing the fact that he did not have Polish nationality. After the war he applied for, and was granted, Swiss nationality. The British Government then advised him he had three days in which to leave the UK.

they know it is a polish spitfire as they asked the pilots permission. or so I was told by one of the knuckle dragging oafs!

Wasn’t that Jan Zumbach….who died in 1986?

Perhaps more importantly they didn’t ask the permission of the artist who created the image.

Think this has been aired previously. Don’t ask me to show the thread.
