Looking at the Vampire pictures thread, I saw a photo posted from S.Africa with a Vampire flying in formation with the low back Spit that hit a wall on landing a few years back,(if memory serves me right). What has happened to this aircraft since,is it undergoing a rebuild or stored? Any ideas.

According to the Warbird Registry ( http://www.warbirdregistry.org/spitregistry/spitfire-te213.html ) she is “under restoration to airworthy”. The SAAF Museum’s own website says: “The airframe has been stored and it is expected she will be once again restored.”. I was pondering the question of TE213/5553 last night in fact, and found another thread here ( http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=22251 )….which features a pic of her post-crash!
Would certainly love to see her together and airworthy again. The SAAF scheme certainly looks quite fetching.

Helo,
Just saw your thread today and looked at the photo in the other thread.
Could it be a help if I told you the side codes were “K-AX” ?
