What type is this WWI biplane?

Hi all,

someone can give me an identification for this biplane? Spotted in a hangar at Duxford in 2005.

Thx!

Always wanted a Cuckoo Clock where it comes out and launches a torpedo on the hour… 😀

I want one for a Vulcan…it comes out once a day, the rest of the time a tiny man comes out and begs for money.:D

And yes, would be great to have a replica built – although I can’t see it happening in the UK, the only chance of seeing an artificial Cuckoo flying here is if there’s an explosion at a novelty clock factory

As a Biff afficianado, i’m quite offended you’re implying someone could mistake one for that

Be quite nice to have on ‘in the nest’ though. After all, quite an important type in history, even if it missed the dust-up.

Got more struts than a Brisfit ( :p ) however.

Couldn’t be a WW1 Sopwith – no rotary engine and it isn’t anywhere near as ugly as a Dolphin!

Could almost be a:

The fuselage sitting midway between the upper and lower wings were the giveaway for me, my immediate thought was something Sopwith until I notice that.
